“The Las Vegas Stars’”

SCHOOL PERFORMANCES in Clark County
2019-2020 School Year
Las Vegas | Summerlin | Henderson

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Anything is Possible, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is to utilize the profits, and other tangible and intangible resources, of the for-profit business entity LVS Enterprises, LLC, in conjunction with The Las Vegas Stars (Motown Extreme Review) to provide scholarships and other educational resources (i.e. books, etc.) to high school and college-aged teens and young adults.

THE NEED FOR MUSIC AND THE ARTS IN SCHOOLS:

“I believe arts education in music, theater, dance and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training…training that prepares them to become confident young men and women. As I visit schools around the country I see a renewed interest in arts education and a growing concern about the negative impact of cutting art and music out of curriculum. The creativity of the arts and the joy of music should be central to the education of every American child.”

~  Richard W. Riley, Former U.S. Secretary of Education

OUR GOALS and TARGET POPULATION

  • Live Performances: Conduct a minimum of twelve (one per month) community outreach “live” Motown Extreme Performances at Clark County High Schools and Junior High Schools.
  • Music Appreciation: Encourage and Inspire high school and middle school students to have a greater appreciation of the arts and to participate in the arts as a way of utilizing healthy means of self-expression, developing social skills, and building confidence and self-esteem
  • Long-Term: Ultimately, as the success of community outreach performances grows, we will further expand the ways in which we provide resources and support to high school and junior high school students, not just in Clark County, but throughout the state of Nevada, California, and Arizona. This includes purchasing instruments, paying for private lessons, conducting music workshops and master classes, and connecting students with music mentors, etc.

  • Children who study a musical instrument are more likely to excel in all of their studies, work better in teams, have enhanced critical thinking skills, stay in school, and pursue further education (Arte Music Academy. “Statistical benefits of music in education.” Statistical-Benefits-Of-Music-In-Education. Accessed July 17, 2014).
  • Music education supports better study habits and self-esteem (Arts Education Partnership, 2011).
  • The skills gained through sequential music instruction, including discipline and the ability to analyze, solve problems, communicate and work cooperatively, are vital for success in the 21st century workplace. (Source: U.S. House of Representatives, Concurrent Resolution 355, March 6, 2006.)
  • A study at the University of California at Irvine demonstrated that young kids who participated in music instruction showed dramatic enhancements in abstract reasoning skills. In fact, researchers have found neural firing patterns that suggest that music may hold the key to higher brain function (Rauscher, Shaw, Levine , Ky and Wright, “Music and Spatial Task Performance: A Causal Relationship,” University of California , Irvine , 1994).
  • A study of rural and urban inner-city schools found that arts programs helped schools in economically disadvantaged communities develop students’ critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. (Source: Stevenson, L., Deasy, R., Third Space: When Learning Matters, AEP, 2005.)
